Charlottetown, PEI, April 12, 2007 – FoodTrust has taken PEI potatoes to the next level with its recently launched line of great tasting and healthy pre-cooked potato products. Through partnerships with a series of PEI companies and the PEI Food Technology Center, FoodTrust recently launched a line of five pre-cooked potato products including: diced, baked, red skin quarters, petite boiling, and seasoned potato wedges in A&P and Dominion stores in Ontario. Its success has resulted in the recent expansion into the Metro grocery chain in Quebec. [more]

FoodTrust recently celebrated its expansion into the Quebec market with the launch of the Soleil & Fraîcheur/FoodTrust potato program in METRO Plus and Metro stores. METRO Inc., which owns A&P Canada Co., has launched the FoodTrust potato in 85 stores in Quebec making it one of the first programs to be introduced from A&P into METRO stores since the acquisition. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a familiar concept to FoodTrust potato producer Eric C. Robinson Inc. According to Farm Manager Steve Watts, "We're always trying to find more environmentally friendly methods for production. We've looked at everything from planting and harvesting to storage and packing, and spent a lot of time doing research into reducing our reliance on pesticides and fertilizers." [more]
